The Dog Stop
TDS offers a larger variety of revenue streams than all the competitors. This includes overnight boarding, daycare, grooming, obedience training, in-home services (dog walking, overnight pet sitting, pet transportation, vet visits, etc.) and a specialty retail store offering food, treats, toys, chews, accessories and over the counter medicines and supplements. By offering all of the above, TDS is truly a 1 stop for all the customers dog care needs.
The start up cost of TDS is ½ that of Dogtopia, 1/3 that of Camp Bow Wow or K9 Resorts. Even though the investment is so much less, the gross sales and EBITDAs are all very close.
This business can easily be run through any of the ownership models (owner/operator, semi-absentee, or absentee). Depending on the choice of owner, the amount of engagement differs significantly. An owner operator can expect to spend roughly 50-70 hours per week working in and on all aspects of the business. An absentee owner could work as little as 5-10 hours per month managing the higher-level financial administration aspects of the business and managing the GM.Receive FREE information
